As a long term investor, I have never seen such a dismal economic outlook for the global economy nor for the US. I have reduced stock holdings and increased cash holdings dramatically. The cash holdings are primarily in money market accounts, mostly Treasury money market funds. Stocks are at throw away prices but nobody knows how long or how deep this recession or depression will be. There are Trillions in money markets, so at some point when there is some hope for an economic recovery, those funds will flow in and a large rally will occur. If you are young, keep buying through the weakness. If you are older, keep some powder dry. |

If so, they would get the capital from selling, but in this market they would more than likely take a loss. |

I sold off everything (I know that makes me part of the problem) when things started getting ugly with housing. I got out just in time. Most of that money went for government bonds. I also bought a few guns which are my other investment specialty. Now I am slowly and carefully buying back in. I managed to play it just right which I admit was mostly luck. |

I took money out of individual stocks this past summer. Now, I just put more in my deferred compensation plan at work, similar to the 401K plan. |
